We are not your normal cancer center. What sets us apart is that you are at the center of everything we do. We start by making things convenient, and pleasant: Valet parking. A soothing infusion center, with the option of taking treatment outside. An onsite pharmacy and lab. Courtesy transportation, if needed.
But what leaves a lasting impression goes deeper than convenience, beginning with your first meeting with the patient navigator. A cancer survivor and nurse, she immediately makes you feel at home as she answers your questions, helps you process your emotions, and guides you to the resources you need. By the time you meet with one of our compassionate oncologists, it hits you . . . you haven’t come to ‘a’ center. You are at THE center of a support team, and you are not alone.
In addition to the experience and skill of our oncologists,
a team of professionals will continue to guide you through diagnosis, treatment
and into survivorship. That team
includes:
-
Dedicated nutritionists
-
Licensed clinical social workers
-
Nurse practitioners/patient educators
This coordination of care, under one roof, in addition to
the specialized services listed below is unmatched in Acadiana, improving your
access to timely care, as well as facilitating better communications with you
and your family.
-
On site lab and pharmacy
-
Library/resource room for family consultations
-
Courtesy transportation available for patients,
if needed
-
Comforting infusion center with 6 infusion bays –
including a landscaped courtyard for infusion/chemotherapy if a patient chooses
to enjoy the outdoors during treatment
Our mission is to be patient-centered – with all aspects of
care personalized to your individual needs.

Center of Acadiana at Abbeville General
Lafayette General
Medical Center (LGMC) has expanded its award-winning
service to the residents of Vermilion Parish thanks to a new partnership with
Abbeville General Hospital (AGH).
The new Cancer Center of Acadiana at Abbeville General offers the same clinical treatments as those in Lafayette
and in renowned cancer centers in Houston and throughout the country.
The Cancer Center of Acadiana
at Abbeville General brings an identity as a top cancer treatment facility in
the area, which should provide comfort to both patients and their families.
Physicians at the CCA at Lafayette General, including Salman Malad, M.D., will
spend time working at the CCA at Abbeville General. AGH now contains a medical oncology clinic and is
licensed for a six-chair infusion center.
"Lafayette General values the
people of Acadiana,” stated LGMC President and CEO David L. Callecod. "Reducing the variation in the way
cancer care is delivered makes it better for the patient in every aspect and
keeps us true to our mission to restore, maintain and improve health.”
Lafayette General hopes to
utilize this clinical affiliation with Abbeville General as the stepping stone
for more clinical service line partnerships in the future.
"We are pleased to work
alongside LGMC in bringing cutting-edge cancer treatment standards to Abbeville
General,” said AGH CEO Ray Landry.
"This allows the residents of Vermilion Parish the convenience of
seeking world-class medical treatment without leaving home.”
One year ago, Lafayette
General partnered its Cancer Center of Acadiana with Savoy Medical Center in
Mamou to provide treatment to those in the Evangeline Parish area. This affiliation proved to be extremely
valuable to patients in the Central Louisiana parishes of Allen, Avoyelles,
Evangeline, Rapides and St. Landry, helping those residents receive care close
to home. Abbeville General Hospital 118 North Hospital Drive Abbeville, LA 70510
