The care on LGMC's Oncology Unit reflects our mission to this community to provide competent, compassionate, quality health care by providing comfort for patients and support for family members.
Located on the 8th floor, the patient rooms are built as suites to accommodate those patients who may need to stay for a longer length of time. Their larger size, and residential feel, allow family members to be present for round-the-clock support.
Nurses are specially trained in oncology care, and work directly with the oncologists and other care team members for well-coordinated medical treatment. When necessary, medical referrals are directed to staff members of area hospice agencies, who work with the LGMC staff, the attending physician, the patient and family to develop a plan of care. Pain and symptom management, terminal care, counseling and referral services are available for any patient who qualifies for inpatient hospice services.
