Lafayette General
Medical Center has recently been honored with a 2012/2013 Consumer Choice
Award, from National Research Corporation (NRC), ranking it as one of the
nation’s top hospitals for quality and image. This is the eighth time that
Lafayette General receives the honor.
The Consumer Choice
Award recognizes hospitals that patients have rated as the most preferred
places to receive care, according to multiple quality and image ratings, taking
into consideration a cross-section of care experiences. The study surveys over
260,000 households in 48 states and the District of Columbia, representing over
450,000 consumers. This year, fewer than 300 hospitals nationwide
were given the award.
"Patients are
central to all of our services and our overall philosophy of care,” says LGMC President
and CEO David L. Callecod, FACHE. "Each time that Lafayette General
receives this award it not only validates our efforts, it encourages our staff
to maintain those high standards.”
National Research
Corporation is hailed as one of the largest patient satisfaction firms in the
U.S., dedicated to representing the true voice of patients and other health
care stakeholders. According to NRC, consumers have been known to more
strongly consider the opinions of other consumers regarding service quality. Thus,
the findings of the survey weigh heavily when deciding on a health care
facility.
